#756 – Manufacturing Day 2019

Posted on | The Agurban

Manufacturing Day 2019 is October 4th

MFG Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders.

Over the next decade, manufacturers will need to fill 4.6 million jobs—jobs that are high skill, high tech and high paying. These career opportunities include high pay and exposure to cutting-edge technology and innovations. MFG Day is a time for manufacturers to open their doors and open minds, to connect the future workforce to potential employers and change the narrative around manufacturing. Last year, 275,000 people participated in nearly 3,000 MFG Day events across North America, and we are excited to grow those numbers in 2019!

MFG Day aims to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry and connect with America’s future workforce—students. Across the country, manufacturers will be hosting students of all ages in their facilities, showcasing our nation’s most iconic industry. Last year, more than 80 percent of students said they became more convinced that manufacturing provides interesting and rewarding careers after attending these events. Events large and small will highlight how modern manufacturers are solving tomorrow’s challenges today!

Our home county of Effingham (Illinois) is planning their 7th Manufacturing Day event for this week. Fifteen area schools will be bringing area high school students together for tours of 12 local manufacturing plants to learn about manufacturing careers available in Effingham County. Students learn how technology, automation, robotics and other state-of-the-art equipment are used to produce a wide variety of products that are shipped around the world.

Is your community planning an event? If so, we would love to hear about it.
