#520. Agracel’s Advanced Industry Sector Projects
Posted on | The AgurbanAgracel’s Advanced Industry Sector Projects
Last week we shared some key points from a recent Brookings Institution report about America’s Advanced Industries. The advanced industry sector includes industries with a deep involvement with technology research and development (R & D), and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) workers. Fifty industries ranging from manufacturing to energy to high-tech services make up the sector.
We were curious where our Agracel projects fell in relation to the advanced industry sector. One of the key points from the Brookings report was “The advanced industries sector is highly metropolitan and varies considerably in its composition and depth across regions.” According to the study, 70 percent of all U.S. advanced industries jobs are in the 100 largest metro areas.
As most of you know, Agracel prides itself on being an “agurban” industrial developer, meaning most of our developments are located in non-urban, non-metropolitan markets. In fact, of our current 70 industrial/office projects, 67 are located outside of the top 100 largest metro areas.
Of the 50 industries that constitute the advanced industries sector, Agracel has projects represented in 12 of those industries, with the largest concentration falling in the Motor Vehicle Parts industry. In all, we currently have 24 of our 70 active projects classified as advanced industries.
Over the years, these types of skilled, critical jobs have allowed Agracel to hold true to our Mission Statement: To be the premier provider of development services to Agurb® communities, facilitating and retaining manufacturing and hi-tech jobs, resulting in a strong portfolio of buildings, thus creating long-term value for our stakeholders.
And, that is what we hope to do going forward!
