Happy 65th Anniversary, Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari!

August 3, 2011, marked the 65th anniversary of the theme park located in the small southern Indiana town of Santa Claus. What a perfect day to announce the park’s newest investment!

Dan Koch, president of the park, announced that the largest single-ride investment in Holiday World’s history would be constructed over the winter months and be ready for guests when the park opens in May 2012.

The Mammoth, the world’s longest water coaster at 1/3 of a mile, will feature a five-story drop at a 45-degree angle, propel boats up hills, into dark enclosed sections and through twists and turns. The new water coaster will cover 3 acres. A conveyor-style lifthill replaces any tower stairs, making the water coaster accessible to riders who might have difficulty walking up stairs.

The new water coaster is expected to cost $9 million.

I am sure we will have some people in our office visiting Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari early next season. We will give you a report on The Mammoth at that time!
