#266. Small Town Like

If you don’t know what small town life if about, a great way to learn is by reading any of Eric Bergeson’s books or his weekly column. I just finished reading Eric’s latest book, Back on the Farm. It is a great compilation of short essays on Eric’s experiences in small town living and not-so-small town adventures. For example, Eric tells of his adventures in Mexico City, Shanghai, and Beijing. He also writes about his love for his favorite baseball team, the Minnesota Twins. And then there is his Ford Ranger pickup truck, which he finally departs with when it has over 260,000 miles on it! Eric Bergeson grew up in rural Fertile, MN, (with a name like Fertile, not sure why the population is only 893) and received a master’s degree in history from the University of North Dakota. In addition to writing, Eric owns and operates Bergeson Nursery, a business founded by his grandfather in 1937. Bergeson’s weekly column Down on the Farm appears in several newspapers in northwestern Minnesota. In addition to Back on the Farm, Eric’s other books include: Down on the Farm, Still on the Farm, Off the Farm, and Pirates on the Prairie. You will enjoy reading these short stories, and will find yourself nodding your head in agreement to many of Eric’s tales. Other stories will bring a chuckle to you as you relate to the antics of small town people.
