Election Day 2020 – Have You Voted Yet?
We strive to keep our Inside Our Industry ezine focused on the manufacturing industry which is the core of our development business. But, this week, we would like to use this opportunity to encourage everyone to get out and VOTE! In addition to the federal contests, state and local level contests are also being held as well.
A brief history of presidential elections…
The 1788–1789 United States presidential election was the first quadrennial presidential election. It was held from Monday, December 15, 1788 to Saturday, January 10, 1789, under the new Constitution ratified in 1788. George Washington was unanimously elected for the first of his two terms as president, and John Adams became the first vice president. This was the only U.S. presidential election that spanned two calendar years (1788 and 1789).
Since that first election, there have been 58 presidential elections. There have been 45 presidencies held by 44 different men (Grover Cleveland was elected to two nonconsecutive terms, and as such is considered the 22nd and 24th president of the United States.) This year, 2020, marks the 59th presidential election.
If you haven’t voted, what are you waiting for? There’s still time to VOTE! It is our civic duty. And remember, no matter the result, we are all Americans.
